Yesterday

I braved the studio even though the fume extractor hasn’t arrived yet.

Regency Plume Agate

It all started when I thought that I’d just prepare a few stones for their collars.

Nothing more dangerous than that you understand.

I’ve been ordering some more stones you see.

It’s called addiction, and I’ve got it.

And I have a feeling that I’ve forgotten some.

A punishment somewhere awaits me.

Although the top two stones look o.k., they’re not as nice as they seem from the photograph, which was a bit disappointing.

I should have read more carefully how they described them.

‘The top is Regency Plume Agate applied to composite turquoise (ground up turquoise with an added stabilizing agent), giving a 3D effect.’

In other words.

They are backed with a bright turquoise plastic-y kind of stuff, for substance no doubt, and the top is polished to such a high sheen that the whole thing looks artificial and not like a natural stone.

But as I’m not yet an expert stone purchaser, I forgave myself.

And plodded through and made something anyway.

P.S. I’m really disappointed with this bezel setting. The silver balls at the bottom are attached to the collar which made it difficult to push it over evenly.

Just so you don’t worry about it I’m going to have another go at it when I get home today.
